LIGHTHOUSE DAY SPECIAL EVENT
AUGUST 7, 2004

Sponsored by the Old Barney Amateur Radio Club

Congratulations to all those who helped out with the Barnegat Lighthouse (N2OB) special Event station. We had lots of help for both setup and teardown - thanks everyone!. We couldn't have asked for better weather - it was sunny but not HOT!! A nice breeze kept the bugs away and let us enjoy the day.

We had lots of people stopping to ask what we were doing or just take a look around. Several visiting hams came by to say hello and talk for a little while. The lighthouse staff was gracious as usual and kept stopping by to see how we were doing. Everyone who showed up got a chance to operate or do some logging. Unfortunately, the bands were not very co-operative but we still managed to eek out quite a few contacts on both 20 and 40 meters. We even talked to a few old friends from around the country.

We made about 340 contacts for the day including 38 states but only 3 or 4 countries. We also made contact with several other Lighthouses. All in all, the day was a big success and lots of fun for those who showed up.
